If you’re using KMK for your exam preparation, here’s a breakdown of how access works, what happens when you need an extension, and how Max Protection benefits can help if you need to retake your exam.
How KMK Access Works
KMK’s Part 1 and Part 2 products are designed to align with the recommended Exam Prep timeline for students in their 3rd and 4th years. Your access will expire after the next NBEO® exam administration, based on when you purchased the product. If you purchase outside this timeline, your access will still end after the next exam.
Max Protection: Benefits for Exam Retakes
Max Protection provides benefits for the next NBEO® Part 1 or Part 2 exam cycle. If you are unsuccessful on the boards, you can extend your KMK Optometry™ plans for Part 1 or Part 2 at no additional cost. With unlimited retake attempts until graduation, you’ll have continued access to the necessary materials to help you succeed. When reactivating your course, any benefits based on your prior access and graduation year will be applied to reduce reactivation fees. These benefits are only valid for the same exam (either Part 1 or Part 2) and the next exam administration. They cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
Example of Extension and Max Protection Eligibility
For example, if you purchased KMK Signature in November 2023, you are eligible for Max Protection benefits for the next exam cycle. When your access expires, you’ll be able to reactivate your course, and any applicable benefit amounts will be applied to reduce your reactivation fees.
Graduates and Reactivation
If you’ve already graduated and need to reactivate your course, a reentry fee will apply, as stated in the MaxPro Terms (in effect since 2022). This ensures that returning users get the latest materials for exam preparation.
Extension Pricing
Extension costs depend on your current plan and what you’ve already spent on KMK products. There may be discounts or upgrade options based on previous purchases, but specific pricing details will be available when your current access expires.
